Product description

This ring presents a technically refined expression of classic gemstone harmony, mounted and finished by The Natural Ruby Company, featuring a transparent 0.52 carat oval shaped ruby, dimensions 6.06 by 4.14 by 2.34 millimeters, cut in a mixed brilliant style. The stone exhibits vivid color saturation and an excellent polish, with a clarity grade evaluated as slightly included at eye level. Origin is Ceylon Sri Lanka, and the piece has undergone a standard heat treatment to stabilize and intensify the inherent chroma. The oval proportions produce a length to width ratio of approximately 1.46, paired with a pavilion depth that yields a measured depth percentage near 38.6 percent, proportions that emphasize color without sacrificing face up brilliance. The mixed brilliant schema integrates a concentrically arranged brilliant facet pattern on the crown with selective step facet references on portions of the pavilion, engineering a balance between scintillation and a saturated, even red tone.

From a gemological and cutting perspective the mixed brilliant approach used for this ruby optimizes light travel through a high index corundum matrix, supporting pronounced internal reflection while preserving color uniformity. Precise facet junctions and an excellent polish minimize light leakage at facet boundaries, allowing the vivid saturation to read consistently across varied viewing angles. The slightly included clarity grading denotes internal features that are small in scale relative to the table and crown, not obstructive to the critical light path at normal viewing distances, while providing natural fingerprinting consistent with untreated origin traits. Heat treatment has been applied in a controlled manner to reduce silk like inclusions and to enhance the dispersion of iron and chromium related chromophores, yielding a stable increase in hue intensity without the introduction of foreign filling agents, or dye, or surface modification.

Flanking the central ruby are white bullet shaped tapered diamonds totaling approximately 0.40 carat, selected for their near colorless E grade and very slightly included clarity range VS1 to VS2. The tapered bullet silhouette functions as a derived tapered baguette with softened edges, providing a calibrated transition in facet geometry from the oval mixed brilliant center to the polished platinum shoulders. The diamond selection is precise in color matching and allotment of weight, configured to act as optical bracing to the ruby, increasing apparent depth of color through contrast in whiteness and high transparency. The setting architecture secures the ruby in a four prong crown arrangement, while the tapered diamonds are mounted in tapered channels and prong seats that follow the curvature of the gallery, engineered to maximize light entry from both the crown and pavilion directions and to preserve a low profile for daily wear.

The mount and finishing work are executed in platinum 950, chosen for its high density and excellent resistance to wear which are critical for long term prong integrity and stability of the setting. Platinum 950 provides a neutral white field that enhances the red saturation of the ruby and the icy white of the E colored diamonds, creating a high contrast optical field that favors color saturation perception. Finishing techniques include micro milling of the prong heads, precise seat cutting for the tapered diamonds, and a high mirror polish on the shank to complement the polish on the gemstones. Because the ruby has required only heat treatment as enhancement, the inherent crystal lattice and inclusion structure remain readable to an experienced gemmologist which preserves provenance information and ensures predictable stability under normal wear conditions. The Natural Ruby Company affirms full disclosure of treatment and origin, and this ring exemplifies a design philosophy where minimal enhancement and exacting craftsmanship combine to showcase naturally occurring beauty with technical fidelity.
