Product description

This ring centers on a meticulously selected, transparent round red ruby weighing 1.02 carat, with specific dimensions of 5.65 x 5.31 x 3.96 mm, executed in a mixed brilliant cut that balances color saturation with optical performance. The mixed brilliant design combines a brilliant style crown with a modified pavilion geometry, a choice that intentionally redirects light to enhance the stone s rich red without compromising sparkle. The ruby exhibits vivid color saturation, and its clarity is described as very slightly included when evaluated at eye level, meaning that internal features are minimal and do not interrupt the visual flow of color or the return of light through the crown. The stone has been heat treated, a stable and industry standard enhancement that improves hue uniformity and reduces the appearance of certain features without altering the natural crystalline structure. Origin is Thailand, and the cutting and polish are executed to an excellent standard, with a finish that maximizes both brilliance and the depth of tone that distinguishes high quality rubies.

From a faceting perspective the mixed brilliant blueprint applied to this ruby is executed with exacting attention to symmetry, facet junction precision, and proportional balance between table size, crown height, and pavilion depth. The cutter maintained consistent facet plane angles across the crown, generating well defined star and kite facets that produce crisp scintillation under varied lighting. The pavilion is adjusted to preserve color saturation through controlled light return, using modified pavilion facets that act to retain warm red wavelengths while still permitting lively contrast. Girdle uniformity and a carefully determined culet treatment ensure the stone sits securely in its head while preventing light leakage that would neutralize the saturated color. The cutter s decisions on facet count and placement were calibrated to the stone s natural color zoning and crystal orientation, converting potential optical irregularities into areas of intensified color and play, a subtlety that is apparent when the ruby is examined with a loupe or observed at arm s length in daylight.

Flanking the central ruby are two white round natural diamonds, with a combined weight of approximately 0.22 carats, and with individual clarity grades in the range of VS1 and VS2, and a color grade of E. These side stones are selected for their high color neutrality and fine clarity, characteristics that allow them to function as bright, high contrast accents against the vivid red center. The ideal match in table proportions and pavilion angles between the diamonds ensures coherent scintillation and even facet sparkle, preventing visual dissonance that can occur when accent stones have mismatched cuts. Each diamond is set in a precise claw prong setting that secures the stone while minimizing metal obstruction of the girdle and pavilion, allowing maximum light ingress. The prongs are machine formed and hand finished, with tight bead and tip alignment to preserve the symmetry of the three stone composition, and to maintain consistent light paths from the diamonds to the viewer s eye.

The mounting and overall craftsmanship are executed in 14 karat yellow gold, a metal choice that warms the presentation and complements the ruby s red tones. The design incorporates an open gallery beneath the center stone, a deliberate technical feature that allows light to reach and interact with the pavilion facets, enhancing the stone s depth and internal fire. Prong shoulders transition into a subtly tapered shank, an engineering decision that balances comfort and structural strength while keeping the visual focus on the head. Attention to metal finish is evident in the high polish and in the internal seat that cradles the ruby, which is milled to a tight tolerance to ensure even pressure distribution around the girdle during setting. Each prong is burnished and inspected under magnification, then stress tested to verify retention, reflecting a combination of machine precision and artisanal hand finishing. Presented by The Natural Ruby Company, this ring is aimed at buyers who value the intersection of gemological understanding and meticulous execution, a piece where faceting geometry, color science, and goldsmithing converge to produce a balanced and technically superior jewel.
