This 1.18 carat oval ruby is a technically refined specimen, with dimensions 7.43 by 6.16 by 2.53 millimeters, a mixed brilliant cut, and an eye level clarity graded as very very slightly included. The mixed brilliant faceting places modified brilliant facets across the crown with a controlled combination of step and brilliant shaping towards the pavilion, producing a balance of broad color face up and lively scintillation across the table. The shallow pavilion depth yields an approximate depth of thirty seven percent relative to its average diameter, which enhances the vivid color intensity and creates a commanding face up presence despite the modest carat weight. Polish is excellent throughout, facet junctions are crisp, and the material is transparent with excellent light transmission, enhancement by heat treatment, and an origin from Burma Myanmar, offered through The Natural Ruby Company.
From a setting perspective this ruby adapts exceptionally well to a wide range of custom treatments, and its optical profile informs practical mounting choices. For a solitaire engagement ring, a four prong setting will maximize visible color and allow light to enter the pavilion, while a six prong configuration or a full bezel will provide added security if daily wear is anticipated. The shallow depth and broad table are ideal for low profile bezels and open backed pendants that emphasize the vivid red hue, and they lend themselves to east west orientations when an elongated visual is desired. For diamond accented designs, a delicate halo with micro pave or a hidden halo set just below the gallery will intensify apparent color without overpowering the stone. Three stone and cluster arrangements work well because the mixed brilliant cut promotes complementary scintillation with surrounding brilliant cut diamonds, and vintage filigree or pierced gallery work can be used to add contrast and light return.
For metal selection and bespoke finishing, platinum or eighteen karat white gold will enhance perceived brilliance and contrast with accent stones, while yellow or rose gold will warm the red tone for a richer appearance. Our bench can advise on prong profiles, seat adjustments for tension mounts, and minimal re polishing to refine symmetry while preserving carat weight. The Natural Ruby Company can provide mounting recommendations, CAD visualizations, and secure setting options to realize this ruby as a classic solitaire, a refined halo ring, an elegant pendant, or a striking pair of bespoke earrings, according to your design priorities and lifestyle needs.
