Product description

This exceptional 2.02 carat oval ruby from Burma, presented by The Natural Ruby Company, is defined by precise proportions and clean optical presence, dimensions 8.26 by 6.09 by 4.07 mm, and a measured depth of 56.7 percent, which yields an elongation ratio of approximately 1.36. Those proportions produce an elegant oval silhouette that balances face up presence with efficient light return. The mixed brilliant cut has been executed to marry scintillation with color saturation, the crown exhibiting a modified brilliant facet architecture and the lower pavilion combining strategic step facets with additional brilliant style facets to channel and reemit light. The result is a gem that reads as vividly red across a variety of viewing distances, while retaining lively internal sparkle when observed close up. The piece has been heat treated, a standard, stable enhancement in ruby processing, selectively applied to optimize hue uniformity and to reduce the visual impact of silk, and the treatment is disclosed and consistent with trade practice for high quality, natural Burmese material.

The geometric faceting scheme on this oval ruby is oriented to maximize angular light play, the table and crown facets proportioned to distribute incoming light across multiple return pathways, and the pavilion facet angles cut to create a sequence of reflective planes that amplify both scintillation and saturation. The mixed brilliant approach preserves broad color windows on the table, while the stepped elements in the pavilion act as light traps that intensify the depth of tone, producing vivid color intensity without sacrificing brightness. Facet junctions are crisply defined and the symmetry is controlled to maintain an even facet pattern around the girdle, allowing the stone to present stable color across rotations. The excellent polish enhances facet lucidity, ensuring minimal surface diffusion so that the internal facet structure governs light performance. At hand or under magnification the stone displays a combination of flash and flash flashes, where concentrated bursts of white light are interwoven with sustained red pulses, a behavior that results from the balance of crown brilliance and pavilion depth.

Clarity evaluated as slightly included at eye level denotes the presence of internal features that are visible to direct unaided inspection but do not materially interrupt the optical performance, instead they contribute to character and verify natural origin for connoisseurs. In this specimen inclusions are moderate and localized, permitting excellent transparency and allowing the strong red color to read through without dead zones or washed areas. The vivid color intensity of this Burmese ruby is the dominant attribute, controlled by strong saturation and a slightly warm undertone that enhances perceived richness in conventional lighting. The excellent polish and well controlled facet geometry make this gem especially suitable for center stone applications where light performance is critical, for example solitaire rings, three stone settings, or bespoke pendants, and its dimensions will work well with settings that preserve the oval silhouette while protecting the girdle. The Natural Ruby Company stands behind the provenance and disclosed enhancement of this ruby, offering this stone as a technically refined example of Burmese material where faceting, proportions, and finish have been carefully managed to produce maximum light play and optimal color delivery.
