This item is a transparent, oval shape ruby weighing 4.75 carat, with measured dimensions of 12.29 by 9.50 by 4.09 mm. The gem has been faceted in a mixed brilliant cut, a choice that balances face up color with scintillation. The color is described as pinkish red with vivid color intensity, and the surface finish is an excellent polish. Clarity is graded as included, evaluated at eye level, which means that internal features are present and may be visible without magnification, yet the overall transparency and color saturation remain the defining attributes of the stone. The ruby originates from Mozambique, and the gem has undergone a standard heat treatment enhancement, a widely accepted practice used to stabilize and intensify the inherent color and to reduce the visibility of certain inclusions. All physical measurements, weight, cut style, clarity grade, color intensity assessment, polish evaluation, treatment notation, and origin attribution are recorded for clarity and reference.
The journey of this ruby began in Mozambique, where deposits yield material of notable color and crystal quality. At the mine the rough crystal was identified and separated based on color, clarity potential, and size. The rough then passed through a sequence of careful selections, where skilled sorters and experienced buyers within our network evaluated its suitability for a mixed brilliant cut. The decision to retain a slightly larger table and to employ mixed faceting was made to maximize the vivid pinkish red face up color and to preserve as much weight as practical from the rough. The stone was then sent to an experienced lapidary studio where the cutting process was executed under controlled conditions. Heat treatment was performed in a professional facility to enhance the chromophore response and to optimize the visual presentation, while subsequent cleaning and repolishing brought the surface quality to an excellent polish. At each stage the ruby was inspected, measured, and documented, with particular attention paid to maintaining the transparency and vivid color intensity that characterize this specimen. The included clarity grade was noted during the grading process at eye level, and the presence of internal features was considered in shaping, faceting, and final inspection decisions.
On arrival at our distribution and quality control center the ruby underwent final verification by gemological staff affiliated with The Natural Ruby Company. Measurements were confirmed, weight was recorded, the cut and polish were reviewed, and the treatment history and origin were documented for provenance transparency. The mixed brilliant faceting presents a lively face up color and controlled light return, making this ruby suitable for a range of settings where color is the priority. Given the included clarity, settings that protect the stone while allowing maximum color viewing are recommended, such as bezel supported designs with open crowns or custom settings that cradle the pavilion. The heat treated designation is fully disclosed, and a detailed report is available upon request that outlines the observations made during inspection and the treatments applied. This account of the ruby from mine to market reflects The Natural Ruby Company approach to traceability, technical detail, and measured presentation, providing clients with factual, verifiable information about weight, dimensions, cut, clarity, color intensity, polish, enhancement, and origin.
