This ruby began its life in the river gravels and metamorphic host rocks of Burma, Myanmar, where experienced local miners recovered the rough material by hand and by careful sluicing, The Natural Ruby Company maintains long standing relationships with field teams in the region to ensure responsible sourcing and accurate chain of custody, the particular crystal that became this stone presented a compact, deep red rough form that suggested strong color and good potential for faceting, geological inspection at the mine site recorded mineral associations and basic crystal habit, and the initial weight was logged and photographed before transit.
After extraction the rough was transported under secure logistics to an experienced cutting studio, the gem was analyzed for orientation to maximize color and weight retention, cutters determined that an asscher octagon shape would best balance depth of color with table reflections and overall aesthetics, the faceted cutting style was executed to asscher proportions and symmetry, following each stage cutters measured the stone and recorded dimensions at every stage, the finished gem measures 5.81 x 5.55 x 4.21 mm, and the final weight registers 1.35 carat, polishing was completed by fine abrasive sequences to achieve an excellent polish, all cutting and polishing decisions were taken with the intent to preserve the ruby's natural saturation and to create optimal light return.
The finished ruby was evaluated by our in house gemologists, clarity was graded as slightly included when viewed at eye level, inclusions are present but do not materially detract from the stone when mounted, color assessment noted an intense color intensity, the hue is a rich, saturated red with even distribution across the table, enhancement disclosure is provided in full, the ruby has been heated with residue present, this treatment is stable and commonly used to improve color uniformity and clarity, residue evidence and treatment history are documented and accompany the gem, gemological notes include cutting style as faceted asscher, excellent surface polish, and origin documented as Burma, Myanmar based on combined field provenance and gemological markers.
Prior to listing the ruby for clients The Natural Ruby Company completed quality control and photographic documentation from multiple angles and in hand scale, our team provides dimensional data, carat weight, cut description, clarity grade at eye level, treatment disclosure, and origin information to support transparent purchasing decisions, this 1.35 carat asscher octagon red ruby is suitable for use as a center stone in fine jewelry, including solitaire rings and bespoke settings where its strong color and precise proportions will be visible, professional settings that allow for slight depth in the pavilion will best complement the stone, for customers who require independent verification we can facilitate third party certification and provide the accompanying documentation of sourcing, cutting, and treatment history, The Natural Ruby Company stands by the recorded provenance and condition of this gem, and we are available to discuss mounting options, certification pathways, and any additional measurements that clients may request.
