According to legend, warriors in Burma, the country now known as Myanmar and the source of this stone, possessed rubies to make them invincible in battle, not only wearing them but inserting them into their flesh to make them part of their bodies. Rubies still hold that “personal safety” mystique today. This particular natural ruby has a red color that’s been heated for enhancement, as well as “vivid’ color intensity, meaning it has the most color saturation possible without moving toward opaque or “over-colored.” It also has a nearly internally flawless clarity. Add to that a 2.92-carat oval shape with an excellent table percentage and depth, as well as a 107-facet crown and a 168-facet pavilion, and you have a ruby that’s unconquerable!
