Product description

This Burmese ruby offered by The Natural Ruby Company is a transparent Other certified vivid red Pigeons Blood gem, weighing 1.28 carats, presented in an oval outline with measurements of 7.29 by 5.30 by 3.87 millimeters. The cutting style is faceted, employing a mixed brilliant scheme, with a faceted crown designed to maximize scintillation, and a pavilion structured to return color saturated light. The table proportion and pavilion depth yield an overall depth of approximately 62 percent, promoting both face up brilliance and color depth, while the length to width ratio of about 1.38 gives an elegant elongated oval silhouette suitable for central placements. Clarity is graded slightly included at eye level, the inclusions being fine and well positioned so as not to interrupt the primary light path, preserving excellent transparency and allowing the vivid color intensity to present as evenly saturated across the table. The polish is excellent, with smoothly executed facet junctions and uniform facet alignment, contributing to crisp facet reflections and strong light return. The stone has been heat treated as an enhancement, with residual evidence consistent with traditional heating practices in Burmese material, and this treatment is fully disclosed in the certification provided.

Because of its combination of weight, proportions, and clarity, this 1.28 carat oval ruby is ideally suited for a statement piece where the gemstone must command visual attention without compromise. The 7.29 by 5.30 millimeter face up area reads large on the hand and will project the famous vivid Pigeons Blood saturation from a distance, while the slightly included clarity allows internal texture that enhances depth when set under direct lighting. For maximum presence, set as a solitaire in a minimal prong setting to expose the pavilion and encourage light circulation, or consider a halo of well matched near colorless diamonds to increase perceived size and accentuate the red saturation, with warm yellow gold settings tending to intensify the ruby hue and white metals offering a contemporary contrast. The Natural Ruby Company recommends secure bezel or hybrid prong settings when inclusions are positioned near the girdle, and further advises consultation for bespoke mounting options that respect the stone geometry and treatment history. This ruby represents a technical balance of cut, color, and clarity, making it an outstanding candidate for a high impact ring or pendant that communicates provenance and craftsmanship.
