Product description

From the moment a crystal forms deep within the earth to its arrival on a jeweler s bench, this ring tells a story of time, pressure, and human reverence, a story we are proud to share at The Natural Ruby Company. Buried in the alluvial soils and metamorphic veins of Burma, this transparent cushion shaped ruby began as corundum rich mineral, slowly absorbing trace elements that give it the vivid red saturation that so many cultures have loved for centuries. Our gem, weighing 0.86 carat, measures approximately 5.05 by 4.97 by 3.65 millimeters, and it was carefully fashioned in a mixed brilliant cut to marry deep, velvety color with lively internal scintillation. Evaluated at eye level as very slightly included, the stone retains a clarity that allows the vivid color to read clearly to the eye, while an excellent polish brings each facet to life. When miners first uncovered rough fragments in Myanmar, they could not have known which pair of hands would coax the inner fire into a jewel, yet through generations of lapidary skill this ruby found its voice, a warm, saturated note that now rests at the heart of a bespoke ring.

Set to one side in an intimate two stone embrace, the ruby is balanced by a white pear shaped natural diamond weighing approximately 0.25 carats, with clarity graded as Very Slightly Included across VS1 and VS2, and a color grade of F. The diamond s pear outline introduces a tender contrast, a bright white compliment to the ruby s deep flame, and together they form a conversation of color and light. The entire composition is held by a hand finished 14 karat yellow gold band, a choice that enhances the ruby s warmth and nods to traditional jewelry craft. The setting is elegant and restrained, designed to showcase the gem s character, while the prongs and gallery are executed with watchful care so that the stones sit secure, visible, and luminous. As the ring moves, the mixed brilliant cut of the ruby scatters light across the yellow gold plane, and the pear diamond throws back white brilliance that highlights the ruby s rich tone, a visual dialogue that shifts with every gesture and with every hour of daylight.

To create a truly one of a kind piece we invite collectors and lovers of gemstones to participate in the next chapter of this ring s journey, customizing details until the design becomes a singular signature. Choices include altering the metal from 14 karat yellow gold to 18 karat yellow gold for a richer glow, to 14 karat or 18 karat white gold for a cooler contrast, or to platinum for enduring strength and a modern palate. The setting may be adjusted to a bezel for a vintage silhouette, or reimagined as a halo to increase perceived scale and sparkle, or flipped into a classic solitaire with the pear diamond positioned as a subtle companion. For those who seek unique color play, the pear diamond may be replaced with a colored sapphire or a pair of melee diamonds to create asymmetry, or additional side stones may be added along a split shank for a more dramatic profile. We can recut or repolish the ruby to alter its face up presentation, or source a larger Burmese stone with similar character for a scaled commission, always disclosing any treatments and certifying origin when available. Personal engravings, choice of prong style, band width, and finish from high polish to matte or hammered textures are all available, and each customization is accompanied by a consultative conversation with our gemologists so that provenance and intention remain aligned. The Natural Ruby Company stands with you through sizing, certification, and lifetime maintenance, ensuring that when you choose to customize this ring it becomes not only a piece of jewelry, but a narrative heirloom, a stone whose path from Burmese soil to a named hand is carefully recorded, cherished, and celebrated.
