You can see why in this outstanding natural ruby from Myanmar (formerly Burma), which has been a key source of the highest-quality rubies for centuries. Its lively red hue, which has been enhanced with heat treatment, flows through the ruby perfectly to earn our highest color-intensity rating of “vivid.” Inclusions or small internal crystals are only slightly visible on close inspection, but are not serious in plain view. The mixed brilliant cut of this ruby’s oval shape shows an excellent table percentage, while its 5.03-carat weight is remarkable for a natural ruby, since fine-quality rubies over one carat are very rare. As such, it will make any setting come alive with beauty.
