Product description

This transparent 6.82 carat cushion shape ruby from Mozambique, offered by The Natural Ruby Company, measures 13.00 x 10.61 x 5.31 mm, and has been cut as a mixed brilliant to optimize both color saturation and light return. The cutter retained a moderately large table and a rounded cushion outline, combining a brilliant style crown with a pavilion that incorporates larger, more open facets. This mixed approach yields broad, velvety flashes of color interspersed with active scintillation as the stone is moved. Clarity is graded as slightly included at eye level, with characteristic natural inclusions and a small pinpoint visible within the pavilion that does not materially compromise structural integrity. The stone has vivid color intensity in the pinkish red range, and it has received heat treatment to enhance chroma and clarity. An excellent polish on the crown facets and pavilion facets increases specular reflection and improves optical contrast between facet planes, permitting strong face up color while preserving lively facet patterning.

Under northern daylight and balanced daylight simulation, the ruby presents its truest vivid pinkish red, with the large table allowing a stable face up appearance and the mixed brilliant pavilion returning deep red flashes. In direct sunlight the stone exhibits stronger contrast between broad color flashes and bright pinpoint scintillation from the brilliant-cut crown facets, increasing perceived saturation and making the red more overtly vivid. Under warm incandescent lighting and candlelight the pinkish component becomes more pronounced, producing a warmer, richer red that emphasizes the gem's velvety internal character. Under cool LED or fluorescence the stone can appear slightly leaner, with increased visibility of internal silk and inclusions creating subtle internal light scattering that softens direct reflections. When set in a protective bezel or semi bezel for daily wear, the gem maintains stable light performance, and when placed in a high prong or open gallery setting for occasional wear, it delivers maximum brilliance and color depth. The heat treatment was applied to stabilize and enhance the vivid intensity without altering the natural origin characteristics associated with Mozambican rubies. For buyers who prioritize optical performance, this cushion mixed brilliant presents a technical balance of table size, facet geometry, and polish that maximizes color saturation and controlled scintillation, a signature of The Natural Ruby Company gemstones.
